The Łódź Actions

Public Movement manifested its presence in Łódź with a series of actions in streets, squares and public institutions. The actions included a welcome ceremony and photo opportunity at the train station, graffiti actions, group bicycle rides, symmetrical car accidents, T-shirts and a party.



The Free Market
Public Movement's curated choice of 15 organizations, movements and groups active in Łódź inhabited market stalls arranged in two wings, presented themselves and recruited new members and supporters.

Amnesty International, Biale Gawrony, Food Not Bombs-Federacia Anarchistycina, Forum Mlodych PIS, Fundacja Azyl, Grupa Pewnych Osob, The Jewish community, Krytyka Polityczna, Łódź Gender, Mlodzi Demokraci, Mlodzi Socjalisci, Nrodowe Odrodzenie Polski, Osrodek Dzialan Ekologicznych “Zrodla”, Viva Łódź, Wege Łódź.
During the Free Market afternoon, panel discussions and a football match took place in the square, and Public Movement's leader Dana Yahalomi was injured.

“…Also in Lodz, Public Movement systematically stencilled bright blue Jewish stars over the amateurish white Jewish stars that rival fans had graffitied over the ‘K’ in the name of the football team LKS Lodz (Stars, 2008). The white stars expressed vague contempt, conveyed though the ready-made rhetoric of anti-Semitism; the blue stars asserted an identity in the teeth of its negative evaluation.”
